Privacy policy

Pothrekha has no login and keeps no personal data on its own servers. Below is exactly what is stored, and the visitor statistics we use.

What stays in your browser

Your visited districts, countries and theme live in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our servers.

What we store

If you post a quiz score we store the nickname and score you give. If you submit a hidden gem we store your text, an optional display name and the photo credit and licence. Nothing is published before approval.

What we do not store

We do not collect email addresses, passwords, locations or other personal data.

Visitor statistics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, so we know what to improve. It sets cookies and sends Google your page views, device and browser type and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not send it your map selections, names or anything you type. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or an ad blocker; the site works the same either way. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and page speed without cookies.

FAQ

Does Pothrekha use cookies or tracking?

Only Google Analytics, for visitor statistics. It sets cookies; you can block it and everything still works. Your map selections stay in your own browser's local storage and are never sent to us or to Google.

What happens to a hidden gem I submit?

A moderator reviews it. It is published only if approved, otherwise it is never shown.
