JhalokatiJhalokati is a small river district between Barishal and Pirojpur, laced with the Bishkhali, Dhanshiri, Gabkhan and Sugandha rivers and countless canals, so boats are still part of daily life. It is known for its guava and for shitalpati, the cool woven mats made from local reeds, and the canal belt it shares with Pirojpur is famous for seasonal floating markets. The ruins of the Kirtipasha Zamindar Bari are a heritage site. About 661,000 people live in roughly 707 km² (2022 census).
