GazipurGazipur borders Dhaka to the north and has grown into a major industrial district, with about 5.26 million people in roughly 1,806 km² (2022 census). It still keeps green space: Bhawal National Park, established in 1982, protects sal forest, and the Gazipur Safari Park lets visitors see animals in large enclosures. The Bhawal Rajbari palace dates from the 19th century, and the annual Bishwa Ijtema gathering takes place on the Turag riverbank at Tongi.
