Nawabganj district guideA Sultanate-era mosque at Gaur, built between 1493 and 1519. It is in Nawabganj district, Rajshahi Division.
Choto Sona Masjid, the "Small Golden Mosque", stands in the Firozpur quarter of the old city of Gaur, in Chapai Nawabganj district. Often called the "gem of Gaur", it was built between 1493 and 1519, during the reign of Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah, by Majlis Mansur Wali Muhammad bin Ali.
Its fifteen domes were once gilded, which gave the mosque its name. The building is of brick faced with stone, about 25 m by 16 m, with five arched doorways on the east and an interior divided by two rows of stone pillars. The 1897 earthquake brought down several domes and much of the west wall; after restoration it is one of the best-preserved Bengal Sultanate monuments.
