About Darasbari Mosque

Darasbari Mosque is the roofless ruin of a large brick mosque in Shibganj upazila of Chapai Nawabganj, about 1 km south-west of the Kotwali Gate and some 500 m west of the Choto Sona Mosque. An inscription dates it to 1479, in the reign of Sultan Shamsuddin Yusuf Shah of the restored Ilyas Shahi dynasty.

It was the third-largest mosque of the old city of Gaur-Lakhnauti, after the Bara Sona Masjid and Guntanta mosques, measuring about 34 by 21 m outside, built of brick with stone pillars. The roof and the front verandah have collapsed, but the walls with their pointed arches still stand.
