About Bajra Shahi Mosque

Bajra Shahi Mosque stands in Bazra village, Sonaimuri upazila, about 20 km north of Noakhali town, and is often called the most notable historic monument of the area. It was built by Aman Ullah in 1741–42, in the reign of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah, on high ground on the west side of a large tank, inside a wall with an ornate gateway on the east.

The mosque has three domes, the middle one larger, with octagonal towers at the corners and three projecting doorways on the east. Between 1911 and 1928 the Bazra zamindars had it repaired and decorated with mosaics of coloured china shards, which give it its bright look today. It is a protected monument.
