About Barobazar Mosques
Barobazar in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah holds a cluster of historic mosques, among them the Gora Masjid, the Sako Bazar mosque, the Jorbangla and Galakata mosques and more than ten others, along with more than five large old tanks. The area is also tied to the legend of Gazi, Kalu and Champabati.
The government restored the mosques in the 1980s, but they were damaged again in 1992 and many now stand in ruins.
