Kushtia travel guide, Khulna Division

Kushtia sits south of the Padma in the south-west, with the Gorai and Mathabhanga rivers running through it, and is often described as a heartland of Bengali literature and music. At Shilaidaha stands the Kuthibari, the estate house where Rabindranath Tagore lived and wrote, now a museum, and at Cheuriya is the shrine of Lalon Shah, the great Baul mystic. The district's tiler khaja sweet and Kumarkhali bedsheets have geographical-indication status. About 2.15 million people live in roughly 1,609 km² (2022 census).
