About Shilaidaha Kuthibari

Shilaidaha Kuthibari is a manor house on the bank of the Padma in Kumarkhali upazila, about 7 km north of Kushtia town. Built by an indigo planter, it later passed to the Tagore family and was a residence of Rabindranath Tagore in the 19th century.

The three-storey house has 18 rooms and a central hall and stands in about 11 acres of grounds. It has been looked after by the Department of Archaeology since 1971 and became a museum in 1986, with more than 80 photographs of Tagore and many of his personal belongings.
