About Buddha Dhatu Jadi

Buddha Dhatu Jadi, often called the Bandarban Golden Temple, stands on a hilltop about 60 m high near Balaghata, a few kilometres from Bandarban town. It is the largest Theravada Buddhist temple in Bangladesh and holds the country's second-largest Buddha statue. "Dhatu" means relics, and the temple is said to keep relics of the Buddha.

The temple was built in 2000 in the Arakanese style familiar from Myanmar and is cared for by the Marma community, the largest Indigenous group in Bandarban. Bandarban also has a hill lake called Debota Pukur, "the pond of the gods".
