About Pathrail Mosque

Pathrail Mosque, also called the Majlis Aulia Mosque, stands in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur, about 4 km south of Polia on the Bhanga–Mawa highway. It dates from the Bengal Sultanate, either 1393–1410 under Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah or 1493–1519, and stands beside the tomb of Majlis Abdullah Khan, a medieval Muslim preacher.

The rectangular mosque has ten domes of equal height over a gently curved roof, five doorways on the east, thick walls about 2 m wide and a prayer hall divided into two aisles by four free-standing pillars. The Department of Archaeology groups it with the Choto Sona and Bagha mosques for its similar design.
