About Satchari National Park

Satchari National Park protects about 243 hectares of hill forest in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj, about 130 km from Dhaka. It was declared a national park in 2005, and its name means "seven streams", after the streams that run through it. Tea gardens surround it, with Satchari tea estate on the west and Chaklapunji on the east, and a small Tripura village lies inside.

Its wildlife is rich, including the critically endangered western hoolock gibbon, Phayre's leaf monkey, capped langur and slow loris, and birds such as the red-headed trogon, oriental pied hornbill and red junglefowl. Common trees include sal, teak, garjan and chapalish.
